L'Ouverture or, The Opening, is a referential take on history. We use it to venerate the valiant Haitian Revolution, and the idea of justice and liberty in today's world. More practically it is a reference to the opening of dialogue concerning the most purposeful activity one can do for themselves and others - becoming literate. Developing a habit of pensive engagement with ideas, at one's own pace, is to start on the road to critical thinking and productive citizenship. It further ensures a more rewarding life experience.
